Questions To Ask During An Interview

At the end of the formal interview the employer will ask if you have any questions. The following are examples of acceptable questions to ask. It VERY important to ask at least a couple questions – you want to come across as engaged, prepared, and interested.

Questions To Ask The Employer:

  1. What is a typical day of someone in this position?
  2. What is the most challenging aspect of the position?
  3. Why is this position open?
  4. What makes your company better to work for than your competitors?
  5. Can I meet the others that I would work with if hired?
  6. What are the biggest concerns and threats to your company and industry?
  7. What are the opportunities for advancement?
  8. When do you expect to make a hiring decision?
  9. When can I expect to hear from you?

Avoid asking about benefits such as vacation, sick days, insurance, retirement, et al. unless these are deal-breakers for you.  Such may come across that you are more worried about what’s in it for you rather than how you can help the company grow and succeed.  You can and should ask these questions at the time you are offered the postion if important to you.
